What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Designer/Estimator position at United Concrete Products?
United Concrete Products, Inc.’s Building Group Division seeking an Electrical Estimator/Designer to join our team. In this role, you will be an integral member of the Estimating and Design Team.
Our ideal candidate will have relevant experience in the electrical industry and have a proven track record of successfully estimating and designing commercial and industrial electrical construction projects.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for reviewing project documents, plans and specifications
- Develop RFI’s for communication with engineers in order to clarify project documents
- Develop electrical budgets and/or estimates for private and public project bids
- Develop electrical submittal packages for review and use by the design team and for approvals
- Keep track of an inventory of equipment and materials for projects being managed
- Keep track of and manage electrical inventory stock for factory production
- Monitor production in shop to confirm work is per design and to the highest quality
- Highly organized, with the ability to plan ahead and multitask in order to meet deadlines
- Proactively identifies changes in project scope and ensures appropriate measures are taken
- Ensure supplies and equipment are ordered and delivered accordingly to schedule
Qualifications:
- Five (5) to Ten (10) years in the design (and/or construction) of electrical systems.
- Experience in building electrical power systems (design and/or construction), load calculations, fault current, and mechanical system coordination (Experience with Pump Stations and Controls a benefit)
- Ability to produce electrical schedules (Panels, Conduits, etc.), one-line, schematic diagrams, and wiring diagrams for electrical.
- Able to layout electrical systems complete with instrumentation and controls (HVAC controls, etc.)
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Quick Books
- Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Comfortable reading and understanding construction drawings
- Previous work experience in construction management or another similar role (preferred)
