What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parts Manager position at United Construction and Forestry?
Purpose:
Efficiently manage and direct all aspects of the Parts Department operations. Monitor activities to maximize meeting our customer needs. Actively market our product support services to our customers.
Responsibilities:
Build an organization by establishing Department policies and procedures to develop:
- The skill and knowledge of all Parts personnel.
- Good attitudes and a pride in personal and Dealership appearance.
- Full utilization of the automated inventory control system.
Develop sales and gross profits:
- Establish realistic sales objectives for Parts Department.
- Encourage aggressive selling by all employees.
- Merchandise and advertise effectively and within Budget.
- Insure Customer satisfaction by maintaining an efficient level of service.
- Attend any events, store and community functions that will benefit the Dealership.
- Perform related or other tasks as assigned.
Control cost:
- Insure the Company receives full value for parts and materials purchased.
- Obtain competitive bids and purchase supplies only when necessary.
- Be alert to practices that waste supplies, utilities and time.
- Control the investment in inventory according to turn rate and level of obsolescence and the goals set annually in the Company’s financial plan.
- Utilize good security measures in the areas of purchasing, shipping, receiving and facilities.
- Develop and maintain rules and practices which prevent pilferage from the inside, from the outside, and from embezzlement.
- Be aware of improvements that can be made in existing practices.
Solve problems rather than living with them.
- Make maximum use of existing space.
Develop personnel:
- Provide programs to insure the productivity of each employee so that the employee’s standard of living will rise as a result of their accomplishments.
- Have at least one person qualified to fill any specific job position including Parts Manager.
- Review employee wages on an annual basis with the General Manager
- Develop programs to upgrade all employees capable of and desiring advancement.
- Develop interpersonal skills so as to be able to draw out, compel or show the best performance from each member of your team.
- Participate in training programs that will develop and improve management skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
