Summary of Primary Functions:
This position is responsible for the sale, rental, or leasing of all new and used John Deere and “all-makes” equipment, parts, and service and for meeting customer’s needs and growing market share, while maintaining acceptable levels of gross profit and attaining sales unit targets.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: May include some or all of the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Sells, rents and leases new and used John Deere and “all-makes” equipment, parts, and service
- Quotes and negotiates prices and credit terms, prepares contracts and records and closes orders
- Manages and maximizes rental conversions
- Grows and develops customer relationships and loyalty to increase market share
- Manages and controls sales related expenses
- Meets or exceeds Company targets for units, dollars, and gross profit
- Manages designated territories and customers to maximize our presence on equipment purchases
- Manages market awareness and provides lost sales reports
- Works with customers and potential customers to provide solutions to their equipment needs
- Provides on-site expertise for demonstrations, machine inspections and technical support
- Sells parts or service to enhance the after-sale value of our product and ensures return business
- Sells allied support services such as PM’s, undercarriage repair and replacement, and on-site fueling
- Keeps accurate and up to date call logs, prospect lists and mileage information within ACT!
- Provides status report to sales manager as to achievement of goals and objectives
- Attends training and sales meetings as required to stay current with new equipment and special deals
- Provides feedback to other departments
- Provides trade-in information when requested
- Maintains a contact management type database for designated territory
- Makes frequent opportunity calls and generates new customers
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:
Education, Skill, and/or Experience Requirements
College degree preferred. Heavy equipment sales experience may be substituted or combined with education. Organization and communication skills must be highly developed. Computer skills need to be broad based.
Language Skills
Ability to read and analyze technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers, coworkers and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentage.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
This person must possess a valid driver’s license.
