ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST INTERN
Department : Environmental
Reports To : Environmental Department Manager
Education : Candidate must be currently enrolled in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or related field curriculum at an accredited college or university
Registration : None
Experience : Entry Level Position
Duties :
- Assist Environmental Specialist in performing field work for wetland determination / delineations and waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) reports
- Assist in plant identification for WOTUS reports and Floristic Quality Assessments
- Assist Environmental Specialist in performing field work for asbestos inspections
- Perform project research
- Assist in field work for traffic data collection
- Assist in preparing graphics related to project deliverables using ArcGIS
- Assist in preparing waterway regulatory permit applications (401 / 404 and Construction in a Floodway permits)
- Assist in completing Red Flag Investigations and doing research in IDEM’s virtual file cabinet
- Perform assigned tasks to aid in completing a project
- Assist in preparing Early Coordination Letters (ECLs) as part of the early stages of a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) document
- Assist in preparing draft NEPA documentation for our federal-aid projects.
- Assist in downloading data collectors upon completion of field work for a WOTUS investigation
- Communicate with department staff and other company staff to provide quality services
- Maintain confidentiality of information regarding clients and company practices
- Perform other duties as assigned
