What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician position at United Controls International?
The Lab Technician is responsible for testing and inspecting components and assemblies per UCI procedures using calibrated equipment and following safety measures. Also, responsible to perform integration, repair and rework activities as needed.
Responsibilities
Daily
- Perform testing and complete associated paperwork in accordance with UCI procedures.
- Perform required testing using calibrated measurement and electrical/mechanical test equipment in a safe manner
- Review item information, documentation, and technical data during test and inspection activities.
- Plan and set up the test equipment in correct and safe manner and determine the validity of the test results.
- Communicate with Engineers and QA, obtain necessary technical and quality information
- Read and follow instructions identified in the dedication procedures, drawings, datasheets, and associated documents in accordance with UCI’s QA program and associated procedures.
- Provide Technical support for all customers and internal staff when required.
- Provide support in technical training for other personnel when required.
- Review test data and verify data met acceptance criteria specified in applicable procedures
- Perform required tests and inspections on and off-site
- Warehouse Maintenance – maintain clean and organize work environment as well as necessary supplies.
- Complete necessary documentation after tests and inspections are performed.
- Communicate with all internal departments in providing status updates and reporting any issues.
- Maintain product traceability, storage and warehouse/lab orderliness.
- Maintain (on and off-site) inventory locations.
- Perform repair and rework on components and assemblies per applicable procedures
- Create non-conformance reports
- Perform integration of electrical/mechanical components/panels per applicable drawings/schematics
Periodic
· Witness subcontracted activities at vendor/customer sites in accordance with quality procedures.
· Provide support in training new employees or other department personnel when required
· Support other internal functions and processes when required
· Perform packaging and shipping functions per UCI procedures
· Perform calibration of equipment when required
· Perform preventive maintenance of test equipment when required
Qualifications
· Technical Diploma or Associate degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and work experience required
· Must have experience in electrical/mechanical components and assemblies testing
· Must have experience in reading and understanding technical datasheets/Manuals/drawings/schematics
· Experience in sheet metal fabrication, Panel Integration, Welding and Soldering is preferred
· Understanding the electronic Database usage and provide necessary input to provide current status and accurate information.
· Ability to lift 25 lbs, bend over, walk, reach overhead, step on a small ladder. Pass a J1 eye test.
· Be able to work in office, warehouse and laboratory environment
· Ability to operate Forklift
· Must have good organization and communication skills
· Travel required: Up to 60% of the time
· Ability to follow instructions and work under strict quality controls
