Our Supply Chain Management Internship is designed to provide practical experience in various aspects of UCI’s supply chain processes. This includes procurement, logistics, inventory management and distribution. This internship is an opportunity for students to work alongside experienced professionals on our supply chain team. Our interns will receive a well-rounded introduction to the nuclear industry and everything UCI has to offer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Supplier Coordination:
- Help in managing communication with suppliers and vendors.
- Assist in monitoring supplier performance, including lead times and quality of deliveries.
- Contribute to supplier selection and evaluation processes.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work with other departments such as sales, marketing, and operations to ensure alignment on supply chain activities.
- Assist in forecasting demand and working with the procurement team to ensure the timely acquisition of materials and products.
- Inventory Management:
- Assist in tracking and maintaining inventory levels for jobs.
- Support inventory reconciliation efforts and ensure accuracy in stock records for jobs.
- Logistics Support:
- Assist in organizing transportation logistics for product delivery and receiving.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external carriers to ensure timely deliveries.
- Help with warehouse organization and shipment tracking.
- Process Improvement:
- Collaborate with team members to implement best practices in supply chain management.
- Suggest improvements based on observations.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel (or other data analysis tools).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with supply chain management software or systems is a plus (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms).
