Description
Position Summary: The Feed Division Maintenance Supervisor directs and coordinates repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment. This position requires traveling throughout Wisconsin to United Cooperative’s various feed mills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement maintenance systems.
- Determine strategies to reduce mechanical downtime and keep product flow at maximum efficiency.
- Learn the flow of materials being delivered to and from the feed mill.
- Understand and learn computer systems that control various areas of the feed mill.
- Upgrade, innovate, and confer with other staff and feed mill management to determine when maintenance will least interfere with operations.
- Maintain records of planned and completed maintenance utilizing work orders and maintenance logs.
- Direct and train employees on basic maintenance projects and facility improvements as requested.
- Estimate costs of parts and supplies to be used during maintenance.
- Ensure work is performed following safety guidelines to ensure health and well-being of employees.
- Improve safety, efficiency, costs, and meet performance goals.
- Cleaning and lubricating of parts.
- Maintaining overall cleanliness and proper functioning of the area or tools or the machinery.
- Develop a full understanding, internally and externally, of the feed facilities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum three years millwright, industrial maintenance, or agricultural equipment maintenance repair experience.
- Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience.
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems, metal working techniques and electrical trouble shooting.
- Experience in computer automated production facility (preferred).
- Good oral and written communication and planning skills.
- Good basic math skills. Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Ability to understand and manage the impact of people, equipment, and inventory.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, high noise environments.
- Ability to twist, stoop/bend, squat and climb stairs and ladders.
- Ability to climb legs and other equipment.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
