Position Summary:
Feed Mill Operations (50%)- Responsible for performing routine tasks related to the feed production including quality control, ingredient and feed processing, manufacturing and load out, ingredient receiving and storage, equipment maintenance and housekeeping.
Sanitation (50%) – Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of a feed mill facility by thoroughly cleaning production areas, equipment, and storage spaces, following protocols to ensure safety standards are met, which may include tasks like disassembling machinery, housekeeping, and disposing of waste, while adhering to safety guidelines.
A qualified individual must possess a strong work ethic, be customer-focused, hardworking and have the desire to work as a team member.
Feed Mill Operations Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operate all feed manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform necessary sequencing, recording and documenting of all feed manufactured during shift.
- Maintain accurate production and FDA records, entering data into an Excel spreadsheet.
- Mix and prepare livestock feeds efficiently and in a manner that ensures accuracy and high quality.
- Assist management with production scheduling, inventory planning, and control for both ingredients and finished products.
- Determine proper routing and distribution for manufactured feeds to appropriate holding bins.
- Assist with equipment maintenance and repair as needed.
- Load and unload trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Observe and enforce all company policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate with managers, co-workers and customers.
- Maintain a professional image and provide superior customer service.
- Perform general work around the facility and other duties as assigned.
Sanitation Duties & Responsibilities:
- Clean all production areas, including floors, walls, and machinery.
- Dismantle and reassemble processing equipment for deep cleaning.
- Conduct housekeeping according to safety protocols and manufacturer instructions.
- Collect and dispose of waste materials like spilled feed, packaging debris, and cleaning residues in designated area.
- Inspect cleaning equipment for proper functionality and report any issues to maintenance personnel.
- Maintain cleanliness of cleaning tools and storage areas.
- Adhere to all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) like gloves, goggles, and dust masks.
- Follow established sanitation protocols and safety regulations.
- Report any sanitation concerns or potential hazards to supervisors immediately.
- Maintain detailed cleaning logs, including dates, areas, areas cleaned, chemicals used, and any observed issues.
- Report housekeeping activities and compliance status to the manager.
Qualifications:
- Understanding of proper chemical/housekeeping usage and safety procedures.
- Previous feed mill or sanitation experience preferred, but not required.
- Agriculture/farm background preferred.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects (50lbs), stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, & climb frequently.
- Ability to work in dusty conditions and all-weather conditions with the required PPE to do so.
- Good oral and written communication and planning skills.
- Good basic math skills. Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
