Position Summary:
A Fleet Technician will perform scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to automobiles, light trucks, semi tractors, straight trucks, trailers, vans, forklifts, and agricultural equipment/machinery as directed. They are responsible for diagnosing/troubleshooting, repairing fleet equipment and machinery.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain and repair fleet equipment and perform preventative maintenance.
- Diagnose vehicle failures and disassemble, repair, and reassemble parts as necessary.
- The capability to use heavy duty truck diagnostic software and understand the results.
- Diagnose and repair exhaust aftertreatment systems (experience is preferred, but willing to train right candidate)
- Adhere to OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulatory compliance standards.
- Complete all necessary documents, including vehicle records, work orders, and DOT inspection labels/forms.
- Tag all warranty parts and returns.
- Attend training classes as needed to keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
- Pick-up and deliver vehicles to and from the facilities as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- 3 years of mechanical experience in a fleet maintenance environment.
- Any level of knowledge or certified training in emissions related components.
- Ability to work with on all types of vehicles, equipment, or machinery.
- Experience in welding, torching, and minor fabrication.
- Basic computer skills.
- Capability to troubleshoot code reader operations and fleet maintenance diagnostic software.
- CDL or the ability to obtain a CDL.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
Working conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time and can stoop, bend, and reach on occasion.
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to working near moving mechanical parts.
