Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Clinician to provide direct services to children and families in a trauma-informed, systems-based approach. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessment and counseling, case management, consultation, and clinical record keeping.
Job Description:
The Clinician is a two-year, grant funded position. Under the direction of the Clinical Manager, the PUCK Clinician provides direct services to children and families, allowing easy access, timely response, and flexibility to deliver services that are most often delivered within PUCK but can occur in the home and community.
Main Responsibilities:
- Direct Clinical Services:
Provides assessment and counseling to children, families, and/or groups with behavioral, emotional mental health, and/or substance use needs. Services provided as crisis stabilization and can be intensive. Facilitates referrals and communication between agencies for other services on behalf of the child. Attends team meetings to plan and monitor services.
Competencies in screening, assessment, engagement, treatment planning, collaboration, referral, motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based counseling in order to provide effective care. Knowledge of Vermont's system of care and ability to connect individuals to appropriate resources, including those with co-occurring mental health and SUD services.
Case Management/Service Coordination:
Provides on-going supportive and/or case management functions in accordance with problems, needs, and strategies identified within the treatment plan. Assists clients achieve stated goals and objectives through supportive visits and communication with agencies.
Makes home visits to support families, as needed. Facilitates communication between agencies on behalf of the child. Attends team meetings to plan and monitor services.
Consultation/Education Services:
Provides consultation services to teachers, school personnel, and community partners as needed. Consultation can be educational or evaluative. Also provides consultation and support to staff.
Clinical Record Keeping:
Responsible for all required written documentation, adhering to UCS recordkeeping requirements for all cases. Completes time sheets and other paperwork on a daily basis. All documentation should adhere to all funded regulatory requirements, including Medicaid/Medicare and third-party standards.
Administrative:
Collaborates and attends all necessary UCS, SVMC, and school meetings to promote coordination and communication. Meets regularly with assigned supervisor. Completes as required agency trainings.
Qualifications:Education/Experience/Credential Requirements:
Masters Degree in a relevant human service field with some experience providing counseling services to families and children. Interest in providing Trauma-Based Intervention required. Licensure or on-track for licensure in Vermont as a Social Worker, Psychologist, or Mental Health Professional required.
- Knowledgeable or willing to train in the use of clinical practices informed by evidence-based models, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for ages 8-13, Attachment, Regulation, and Competency (ARC), Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and Zero Suicide.
