Position Title: Controller
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Controller to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions and financial planning, working closely with the Accounting Manager, Director of Finance, and Senior Management teams.
General Accounting:
The Controller will assist with the oversight of all accounting functions, led by the Accounting Manager. They will have a full understanding of the accounting functions of United Community Services, United Counseling Service, United Children's Services, and United Community Properties. This includes reviewing, analyzing, and verifying the accuracy of financial statements and documents. The Controller will also perform monthly reviews and analysis of financial statements, including monitoring and auditing for accuracy and making recommendations to the Director of Finance for improvements, efficiency, and adherence to fiscal regulations.
Fiscal Control and Budget Management:
In cooperation with managerial staff, the Controller will assist the Director of Finance with preparation and supervision of agency budgets and financial reporting for United Community Services, United Counseling Service, United Children's Services, and United Community Properties. They will help develop objectives, policies, and program procedures for these activities and participate in planning for program/cost center/agency as requested by the Director of Finance.
Multicorporate Operations:
The Controller will help formulate, revise, and maintain financial policies and procedures for all 4 corporations to ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, as well as adherence to Federal and State regulations. They will advise the Director of Finance of actions and potential risks and plan, participate in, and advise the Director of Finance on special projects as requested, including presentations to the Finance Committee of the Board.
Supervision:
The Controller will directly supervise the A/R Coordinators (First, Third, and Medicaid) and Managed Care Coordinator and help hire, train, develop, and evaluate staff effectively, including shared strategic planning to increase innovations and ensure compliance.
Requirements:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting is required, and a minimum of five years related experience in accounting or a related field with extensive accounting training. Previous supervisory experience is essential. Computer skills, including analytical review of data, are required.
