We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our team in providing high-quality care and support in a General Dentistry practice. The Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in assisting the dentist, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining a clean and organized dental environment. Office Location: All Family Dental and Braces 719 Barron Blvd, Grayslake, IL 60030
Responsibilities:
1. Chairside Assistance:
- Prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are available.
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, anticipating their needs and providing the required tools and equipment.
- Provide chairside support, such as suctioning, passing instruments, and holding the dental dam.
- Assist doctors with four handed dentistry as needed.
- Complete patient charting in partnership with doctors.
2. Patient Care and Support:
- Greet and prepare patients for their dental appointments, ensuring they feel at ease and comfortable.
- Explain dental procedures to patients, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
- Assist patients in taking x-rays and other diagnostic images as directed by the dentist.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions.
- Provide guidance on preventive dental care and answer patient questions related to dental health.
3. Sterilization and Infection Control:
- Follow strict infection control protocols, including proper sterilization and disinfection of dental instruments and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic dental environment, adhering to OSHA and CDC guidelines.
- Dental Records and Documentation:
- Accurately record and update patient information, treatment plans, and procedures in the electronic dental record system.
- Take detailed notes during dental procedures to assist the dentist and ensure accurate patient records.
4. Dental Laboratory Duties:
- Prepare dental impressions, models, and temporary crowns as required.
- Coordinate with the dental laboratory for the fabrication and delivery of permanent restorations.
5. Office Support:
- Assist with general office duties, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, and processing patient paperwork.
- Collaborate with the front desk staff to manage patient flow and ensure efficient daily operations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a dental assistant program is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a General Dentistry practice.
- Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and dental terminology.
- Familiarity with dental software and digital radiography systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and dental team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with a focus on maintaining a clean and safe dental setting.
- Certification in CPR and X-ray is desirable.
- Coronal Polish and Sealant Certificate is required.
- Nitrous Oxide certification is preferred.
