Job Summary
The Claims Adjuster is responsible for reviewing, investigating, and processing a variety of insurance claims, managing participant eligibility, and upholding compliance standards. This role includes delivering exceptional member service, reconciling bank accounts, and working closely with external partners to maintain smooth claims processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service
- Respond to phone inquiries and welcome members visiting the office.
- Provide information regarding claims, benefits, and eligibility.
- Claims Processing
- Process medical, prescription, dental, vision, and time loss claims.
- Disburse time loss benefits and engage with claimants.
- Generate weekly payment files, including printing and mailing claim payment notifications.
- Monitor and update the claims processing system.
- Accounts Payable/Banking
- Reconcile bank accounts and implement Positive Pay procedures.
- Manage payables and issue payments.
- Participant Maintenance
- Maintain participant eligibility and files.
- Distribute new member packets.
- Premium Remittance Processing
- Process and verify monthly remittances.
- Resolve administrative issues with employer representatives.
- Dental, Vision, Preferred Provider, and Pharmacy Network Management
- Collaborate with network partners to resolve conflicts and facilitate claims.
- Public Engagement
- Participate in employer site visits, benefit fairs, and presentations.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent communication and computer skills.
- Familiarity with medical, dental, vision, and prescription terminology.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of health insurance regulations.
- 1–2 years of administrative, professional office, and/or customer service experience (insurance industry or claims experience strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in problem/conflict resolution.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
Education and Experience
- At least one year of multi-line insurance claims or relevant customer service experience required.
- Insurance industry or claims experience preferred (can be included in the 1–2 years above).
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of desk work.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
