Job Overview:
We seek a skilled and detail-oriented Industrial PLC Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize programmable logic controllers (PLC) systems within our industrial automation environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of PLC hardware and software, with experience in ensuring minimal downtime and optimal production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- PLC Installation and Configuration: Install, program, and configure PLC systems and related equipment to meet operational requirements and specifications.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Perform troubleshooting and repair of PLC-controlled machinery and systems to ensure efficient operation.
- System Optimization: Evaluate and improve the functionality and performance of PLC systems, ensuring they are running at peak efficiency.
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular preventative maintenance checks and diagnostic tests on PLC equipment to identify and mitigate potential issues before they occur.
- Programming and Modifications: Program new PLC systems and make modifications or updates to existing systems, using software such as Rockwell Automation, Siemens, or other industry-standard programming languages.
- Documentation: Create and maintain accurate documentation for system configurations, modifications, maintenance schedules, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to coordinate PLC-related tasks and projects, ensuring seamless operations.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company procedures while maintaining equipment and troubleshooting issues.
- Training: Provide training and support to team members in PLC programming, diagnostics, and system operations.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience working with industrial PLC systems in an automation, manufacturing, or production environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram).
- Experience with PLC brands such as Rockwell Automation (Allen Bradley), Siemens, Mitsubishi, or others.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, sensors, motors, and control circuits.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, HMI (Human-Machine Interface) programming, and networking.
- Problem-solving: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, control, and automation systems.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with team members and other departments.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of industrial safety standards and procedures, including lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and hazard identification.
- Certifications: Any relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Control Systems Technician - CCST) are a plus.
