POSITION: Material Handler

COMPANY: United Equipment Accessories, Inc.

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Responsible for the efficient flow of materials while meeting safety, quality and productivity goals: receive, organize, and physically move material throughout the facility, package product for secure shipment, operate equipment, and regularly perform transactions in the ERP system and web-based carrier portals to complete shipping and receiving tasks
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to ensure accurate count of finished goods, perform cycle counts to verify inventory levels, and assist with root cause analysis to resolve discrepancies
  • Other projects and duties as assigned by the Logistics Analyst

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

This position reports directly to the Logistic Analyst. No positions report to the Material Handler.

REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION - High school diploma or equivalent is required.

EXPERIENCE - The job assignment will be commensurate with the level of demonstrated skills through school and previous positions. Prior experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment desired.

SKILLS - Effective communication and listening skills are essential to share work-related information with employees at all levels of the organization and follow written and verbal instructions. Professionalism in all business interactions and the ability to work well in a team or individual setting is required. Superior attention to detail and multitasking ability is crucial for success in this fast-paced position. The ability to operate equipment associated with shipping and receiving functions including but not limited to pallet jack, fork truck, wrapping equipment, etc., is essential to complete tasks. Technology proficient in basic computer operation and experience using ERP system, Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook & Word), navigating web-based freight carrier and shipping portals is also required. A current and valid driver’s license and maintaining insurability for operation of company vehicles is required to perform the essential duties of this position.

PHYSICAL - Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, bend, lift, kneel, talk, drive company vehicles and operate fork trucks and other equipment. Use of fingers, hands and arms is necessary to reach, grab, and handle parts and packages as well as pushing and pulling motions. The ability to hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficiently to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations is essential. Must be able to distinguish color and possess specific vision abilities including near vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus (with corrective lenses if necessary) to perform the requirements of the position. The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance is also required.

MENTAL - Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently and possess basic math knowledge. The ability to communicate clearly on technical and business levels while maintaining professional conduct is essential. Must be able to multitask, follow verbal or print instructions, and effectively work under time and budget constraints.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The Material Handler will primarily work in a plant setting which is a smoke free environment that has typical factory hazards including noise, dust, cutting, drilling, finishing, solvents, lubricants, tripping hazards, blocked walkways, and hazards common to machining of parts such as sharp tools and objects, moving parts, metal shavings and slivers, unfinished surfaces, flames, sparks, and smoke. United Equipment Accessories, Inc. functions in a real market environment that changes at various times of the year which occasionally may create high output or greater time pressure demands. Hours may vary according to business demands including requirements to work overtime.

This full-time position’s regular work schedule is:

  • North Plant – 5:30am to 2:00pm Monday through Friday
  • South Plant – 6:30am to 3:00pm Monday through Friday

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE:

  • Follow rules and processes as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety and Quality Manuals as to conduct and performance standards expected of all employees

  • Responsible for the efficient flow of materials while meeting safety, quality and productivity goals
  • Verify integrity of received materials, organize, locate, physically move, and deliver to storage locations throughout the facility
  • Use multiple computer systems to perform shipping and receiving transactions including ERP system, Microsoft Suite, web-based freight carrier and shipping portals
  • Review reports to determine shipping priorities, verify finished good inventory, securely package and ship according to job instructions
  • Support inventory management activities, perform regular cycle counts to verify levels, provide accurate counts of finished goods, assist with root cause analysis to resolve discrepancies and communicate findings to the Buyer/Planner
  • Use measuring tools and operate variety of other hand tools and equipment associated with shipping and receiving functions including but not limited to company vehicles, fork truck, pallet jack, wrapping equipment, scales, etc.
  • Seek opportunities to improve job efficiency, reduce cost, optimize equipment, processes and/or materials
  • Maintain an organized, tidy work area and clean equipment
  • Remain on task, work efficiently, produce minimal waste, and complete work according to budgeted labor hours
  • Work individually or collaborate with others - when necessary or requested - to complete orders
  • Demonstrate physical, regular, and punctual attendance and communicate scheduled and unscheduled absences in advance
  • Complete tasks and projects accurately, timely and within budget and priority guidelines
  • Follow through and communicate questions, project information and status to the appropriate people
  • Demonstrate collaborative working relationships, good judgment, reasoning and professional conduct in all business interactions with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for the position and situation
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Logistics Analyst
