Job Summary:
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for full-cycle payroll and benefit administration.
Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to:
  • As the payroll expert, responsible for end-to-end, timely, accurately and compliantly processing the Bank’s bi-weekly, multi-state payroll and year-end processing.
  • Auditing and process employee data for new hires/terminations/changes, benefits, additional earnings, etc.
  • Researches, analyzes, and resolves technical problems or questions presented by associates and/or outside agency representatives.
  • Maintains various reports, files and records (e.g. payroll, employee attendance, history, withholding information, etc.) for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
  • Resolves discrepancies with payroll information and/or documentation (e.g. payroll, benefit provider/s, withholding versus W4, etc.) ensuring accuracy of records and employee payments.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding various procedures and requirements (e.g. wage levies and garnishments, savings, contributions, direct deposits, etc.) to provide necessary information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with established fiscal guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, and prepare reports related to payroll taxes, retirement contributions, garnishments, and other statutory requirements. This may also include preparing payroll audits and ensuring proper documentation for year-end reporting/filings.
  • Assists in HR projects; benefits open enrollment, annual performance evaluation, organization and upkeep of departmental processes and work instructions.
  • Reconciles monthly benefit provider invoices.
  • Provide additional administrative support for the HR team.

Education, Experience and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Will consider experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum three years of payroll experience required.
  • Knowledge of payroll tax laws required.
  • Workday payroll processing preferred.
Physical Requirements of Essential Job Functions:
The associate is frequently required to sit and/or stand, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects, tools or controls that are typical of an office/bank environment. Lifting items weighting up to 10 pounds on a consistent basis. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 80% of the work period while operating equipment such as computers, phones, calculators, etc.
Working Conditions:
  • Typical office environment.
  • Extended viewing of computer screens.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Typical workweek; Mon thru Fri from 8 to 5.
  • Weekend and off hours work is required should business needs dictate.
