United Gear & Assembly, a premier manufacturer and supplier of precision gears, shafts, and related assemblies, offers an exciting opportunity for a Machine Operator to join their team.
This role involves performing machine operations on Mills, Lathes, Grinders, Hobs, and Broaches. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reading process sheets, blueprints, and sketches to determine machining requirements, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating procedures.
The Machine Operator will mount work pieces between centers, in chuck, or to faceplate, manually or using hoist, and install preset tooling in tool posts, turrets, or indexing heads, and automatic-tool-change magazine, in sequence specified on process sheets.
They will also observe numerical displays on control panels and compare with data on process sheets to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates, and speeds of machining cuts.
Additionally, the Machine Operator will inspect first-run pieces and spot-check succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications, using micrometers and precision dial gauges.
Requirements include intermediate reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent, or a 2-year degree program.
The successful candidate will have strong communication, problem-solving, analytical ability, interpersonal, and dexterity skills.
