The Quality Improvement Specialist is expected to be able to effectively communicate outcomes and results along with designing and creating dynamic presentation materials. They are responsible for coordination of meetings, record- keeping, and tracking of improvement initiatives.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position provides support to the Quality Improvement Department by:
- Interprets performance improvement data from an organizational standard perspective and explain it to staff and management personnel.

Coordinate, tabulate and analyze performance improvement data from a clinical perspective. Prepare and distribute performance reports to Quality Improvement Committees. These include but are not limited to:
- Patient Satisfaction
- Employee Satisfaction
- Provider Chart Audits (e.g., Medical and Dental)
- United Health Center Quality Measures (Uniform Data System)
- Assist in educating and training UHC staff on the quality improvement plan and UHC’s quality patient measures.
- Responsible for provider tracking and enrollments into quality programs
- Coordination and record keeping of Quality Improvement Committee meetings.
- Assist in general clerical/office duties associated with the department.
- Responsible for the reporting and analysis of specific health center projects.
PERFORMANCE AREA 1: Quality Improvement Activities: Works with the Quality Improvement Manager to develop a strategy for continuous improvement of UHC's service delivery and operations, to include development and monitoring of performance methods and measures.
- Collaborates and/or consults with the Quality Improvement Department and respective staff, as requested, to develop and/or implement new and updated policy and procedural guidelines to achieve desired performance levels.
- Regularly reviews office files and operating processes against standards to determine the status of policy and procedural compliance. Evaluates circumstances to determine root causes of deficiencies, reports findings, and recommends recognition and improvement/corrective initiatives.
- Regularly evaluates operations, service delivery, and performance to determine potential for improvement initiatives.
- Works closely with on-site performance improvement teams to design, implement, and monitor quality improvement initiatives.
- Assesses staff development efforts, evaluates effectiveness, and recommends improvement initiatives.
- Using independent judgment, creates and maintains program review instruments and methods, and ensures reviews are conducted and reported on an agreed schedule.
- Participates in and/or conducts or facilitates meetings to assess current operations and service delivery, and recommends improvement initiatives.
- Develops, coordinates, and implements performance improvement initiatives as requested, keeping the Quality Improvement Manager apprised of progress.
- Researches, tabulates, and prepares program performance information.
- Maintains detailed knowledge of federal, state, local, and internal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures governing UHC programs.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Degree/certification in healthcare related field preferred (e.g., BS in Health Education, Medical Assistant certification).
- AS/AS or equivalent required
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
- Valid driver's license
PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
- 1 or more years of clerical experience or experience in a health care setting

- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Able to quickly build and maintain rapport with staff of differing backgrounds; team player

The pay range for this non-exempt position starts at $23.10 an hour. Our salaries are dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience.
