Responsibilities
- Assess and diagnose language and swallowing disorders (yes, we love talking and eating too!).
- Collaborate with family members, counselors, teachers, psychologists, doctors, and other professionals to create holistic treatments (we play well with others).
- Combine traditional therapies with innovative techniques (think of it as a therapy cocktail).
- Provide support and advice to patients, their caregivers, and family (we're basically life coaches with a focus on speech).
- Keep detailed notes on patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed (because sometimes Plan A becomes Plan B, C, or D).
- Motivate patients, even when progress is slow (think of it as being their speech cheerleader).
- Maintain patient databases and meticulously update medical records (accuracy is our middle name).
- Stay updated on developments in speech language pathology and the broader medical field (always learning, never boring).
- Master's degree in speech language pathology, speech therapy, or equivalent.
- Experience with specific disorders and age groups is a plus (variety is the spice of life).
- A relevant license and certification (we like it official).
