Summary:
As our mission statement states, "We are kind people who treat you like family". Under the guidance of the Director of Building Services, the Maintenance Mechanic completes various tasks to repair or restore equipment to ensure our facilities are well-maintained and operational.

Job Functions:
- Designs systems and/or projects for the purpose of meeting various maintenance and facility's needs.
- Request equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
- Request quotations for the purpose of providing cost information, purchasing, and securing items.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
- Repairs and maintains mechanical equipment, buildings, and machines. This includes, but is not limited to plumbing, painting, floor repair, electrical repairs and heating and air conditioning system maintenance.
- Performs minor fixes, such as repairing broken locks, damage to walls, etc. Complete daily assigned maintenance tasks.
- Inspects building/floor assignment for daily rounds. Make updates to documentation with findings, as necessary. Reports on necessary repairs and/or updates to Director.
- Responds to work orders issued. Communicates workload to Director. Performs work and then submits completed tickets as assigned. Reports any issues with completion.
- Assists with minor repairs of the boiler(s) and heating units throughout the building.
- Environmental Services to move furniture. Transport broken furniture and other items for repair within the facility.
- Upon request from nursing, assists with transportation of expired residents.
- Inspects and troubleshoots mechanical equipment and systems. Test the functionality of the facility's safety systems.
- Responsible for the distribution of oxygen/replacements and new set up.
- Collaborate with staff and other professionals during renovations and facility expansions.
- Attend meetings as assigned.
- Update Director of major issues with interior or exterior facilities, including climate control, damage or pest infestation problems. Report to Director regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress
- Seasonal: Snow removal; pays special attention to snow removal from emergency exits.

- Ability to use common tools such as hammers, saws, drills, and wrenches.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- 3 years of proven experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position, preferably in a healthcare setting. Experience in construction a plus.
- Valid NYS driver's license.
- Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Experience working with tools, including hand and electrical tools.
