What are the responsibilities and job description for the Internal Auditor position at United Heritage Credit Union?
This position will be working at our Headquarters Building in North Austin (183 / Oak Knoll). This position is fully in-person at our offices.
We are seeking a skilled Internal Auditor for our Compliance team who will perform audit services on internal processes, procedures, and controls. This role will conduct independent reviews of the credit union internal controls; review the effectiveness and efficiency of operations; test the integrity of collected data; and review organizational policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements. What you will do :
- Performs independent audit review of internal controls, processes, and procedures. Through this function, the role will review the effectiveness and efficiency of Credit Union operations as well as review the processes and procedures for compliance with organizational policies, as well as regulatory requirements.
- Examine internal records such as reports, data, system generated records, journal entries, etc. to determine the accuracy, completion, consistency, reliability, and integrity of information.
- Analyze collected information through the audit process to identify trends such as data inconsistencies, gaps in the processes, weak internal controls, duplication of tasks, delays and bottlenecks, single points of failure, etc. to improve Credit Union operational efficiency.
- Identify issues with internal processes and procedures and provide actionable recommendations to address risks, deficiencies, and process inefficiencies.
- Fully and clearly document all audit test work for recordkeeping, such as workpapers and procedure workflows.
- Perform follow-up audit to confirm status and completion of resolution to initial audit findings.
- Collaborate with credit union personnel across all departments and levels to evaluate and improve internal controls, processes, and procedures.
- Conduct additional specialty audit requests and projects, as needed and as assigned.
- Maintains basic knowledge level regarding laws and regulations that govern banking operations and consumer protection.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
