Job Description:
United Care is seeking an experienced Dementia Care Specialist with 5 years of hands-on experience in dementia care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of dementia-related conditions, effective care strategies, and a genuine passion for improving the quality of life for patients and their families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Personal Care Assistance: Helping patients with daily activities like bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Medication Reminders: Ensuring medications are taken correctly and on schedule, while observing for side effects or changes
- Meal Preparation: Preparing nutritious meals based on dietary needs and assisting with feeding if necessary
- Transfer Support: Assisting with walking, transferring, and other mobility needs to prevent falls and injuries
- Companionship: Providing emotional support, engaging patients in conversations, and encouraging participation in activities
- Behavior Management: Handling agitation, confusion, or wandering with patience and effective strategies
- Documenting Progress: Keeping accurate records of the patient's daily activities, moods, and any incidents
- Memory Care Activities: Organizing activities that stimulate memory and cognitive functions, such as puzzles or reminiscing sessions
- Stress Reduction: Creating a calm and comforting environment to alleviate anxiety and frustration
- Housekeeping: Light cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe and organized living space
- Transportation: Driving or accompanying patients to medical appointments, social gatherings, or errands
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in dementia care
- Strong knowledge of dementia-related conditions and caregiving techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in healthcare or dementia care
