SUMMARY: Assists in the preparation and serving of food for the Elder Nutrition program and coordinates food services for the Elder Nutrition Program in the absence of the supervisor by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepares, cooks, and serves food and beverages.
- Limited oversight of kitchen and staff.
- Carries pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator.
- Ability to modify, enlarge, or reduce recipes.
- Wash pots, pans, dishes, cleans counters and appliances, and maintains dining room area.
- Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils, segregates and removes garbage and recyclable materials, and steam cleans or hoses garbage containers.
- Received and examines foods and supplies to ensure quality and quantity meet standards and specifications.
- Unpacks and stores food, labeling each as necessary, cleans and organizes storage areas.
- Assist in training helpers and volunteers in cleaning, cooking and serving.
- Follows local, state and federal health, safety and sanitation regulations.
- Assumes the duties of the van driver as needed.
- Assists cook with menu planning and food purchasing as needed.
- Follows menu plan and serving sizes as required by Title VI program standards.
- Fills in for cook when required.
- Attends staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
- Adheres to accreditation and compliance standards/guidelines.
- Maintains a professional organized clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
- Assists in development of departmental policy, procedures, and quality improvement activities within the clinic as directed.
- Shall use computer programs for the use of entering timesheets, read emails, complete on-line trainings, etc.
Performs other tasks as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Educational degrees must be from a US Department of Education accredited school
- Level: I: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), experience preferred.
- Level II: in addition, one year experience is required.
