SUMMARY:
As directed by the Fiscal Controller and supervisory accounting staff, support the objectives of the General (corporate) Accounting department by providing accurate data compilation, transactional data entry, account reconciliations, basic account analysis and reporting tasks within the organization’s corporate accounting department. Tasks may include all areas of general accounting including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement and purchasing, travel expense processing, cash receipts and disbursements, financial reporting, and merchant card and banking transactions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Receive and manage the organization of accounting documentation
- Review, confirm and organize source documents including invoices and expense vouchers
- Perform transactional data entry in the areas of general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Provide basic reconciliation and analysis of asset, liability, revenue and expense accounts
- Process procurement and purchasing requests
- Support travel expense processing
- Maintain records of vendor and subcontractor payments
- Process cash receipts and requests for disbursements
- Support monthly closing processes
- Prepare basic audit schedules
- Provide basic financial reporting
- Analyze merchant card and banking transactions
- Support various research assignments
- Participate in accounting and other organizational meetings
- Maintain a professional, well-organized working environment and adhere to organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
- Support the development and maintenance of applicable policies, operating procedures, and quality improvement activities within the clinic as directed.
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

- Working level familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
- Competency with standard corporate accounting software
- Competency and experience with standard spreadsheet and word processing software
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Educational degrees must be from a US Department of Education accredited school
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and one or more years related experience and/or training; or
- High School diploma or GED with three or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Exhibit proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Shall possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be eligible for the agency’s vehicle insurance and if applicable provide proof of private vehicle coverage.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
- Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
