AC Motor Winder
Overview: At United Industrial Services, Inc., we are looking for an individual for the position of AC Motor Winder at our Rich Creek, VA location. The AC Motor Winder is responsible for the following:
- Winding random wound AC motor frames ranging from 1/3hp to 800hp
- Assessing laminations
- Making coils
- Connecting rewound stators
What We Are Looking For:
A successful applicant for this position will be highly dependable, able to work independently while being a part of a larger team with exceptional attention to detail.
- Responsibilities in Detail:
o Demonstrate strong understanding of AC motor principles, winding patterns, and electrical connections
o Strip old windings from stator core and then clean and prepare the core for new coils
o Wind new coils using a variety of winding machines and techniques, ensuring proper coil placement and insulation
o Connect newly wound coils according to the appropriate test sheets, drawings, international standards, and/or other processes to ensure specifications are met or exceeded
o Maintain detailed records of repairs, including winding configurations, testing results, and any other necessary modifications made to the motor
o Interpret electrical diagrams to accurately replicate motor winding configurations
o Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to adapt to multiple industries
o Read measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, micrometers, etc.) in both standard and metric measurements
o Use hand tools like wire strippers, pliers, and winding jigs
o Work at an efficient and safe pace with limited supervision
o Complete other related job duties as assigned
- Requirements
o Excellent mechanical aptitude and electrical knowledge
o Ability to communicate effectively verbally and with legible handwriting/penmanship
o Detail oriented with a focus on quality
o Ability to pass a drug test
o Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 70 lbs.
o Punctuality and attendance reliability

o Demonstrate at least 10 years of experience with AC motors
o Have a valid driver’s license
o Training/Certification for crane and forklift operations
o High School diploma or equivalent
