DESCRIPTION:
JOB DUTIES:
Multi-State Sales & Use Tax Administrative Support
Sales tax compliance:
- Maintain various state sales tax license compliance.
- Ensure valid sales tax exemption certificates are on file and timely obtained for exempt transactions.
- Review and update sales tax rates/treatment as assigned.
- Properly classify transactions as taxable and non-taxable.
- Reconcile sales tax accounts monthly to General Ledger, Lease Plus, and sales tax filings. Promptly notify the Accounting department of discrepancies.
- Timely and accurately file and remit sales tax to the various states/jurisdictions to maintain sales tax compliance.
Multi-State Property Tax Administrative Support
Property tax compliance:
- Prepare/review property tax filings for leased assets.
- Prepare property tax return mailing information (creating mailing labels, preparing mail book, preparing envelopes, etc.).
- Manage the physical property tax files – scan and file hard copy documents (tax bills, notices, etc.).
- Properly classify assets as taxable and non-taxable.
- Process assessments and tax bills (including payment) timely and accurately.
- Prepare customer billing and estimate information for property taxes as needed.
- Bill property tax administrative fees to lease customers for tax return filing/preparation.
- Assist the Accounting department in reconciling property tax escrow account.
- Issue customer credits to the Operations department for overpayments on property tax, as needed.
Other Compliance Filings
- Complete business license renewals and maintain physical and digital Business License files.
- Research business license requirements as needed.
- Assist with governmental audits of property tax and/or sales/use tax filings.
- Complete special projects/tasks as assigned and other departmental/operational activities as needed.
General
- Ensure regular and prompt attendance.
- Perform other appropriate duties as may be assigned by Management.
- Travel as business needs may require, currently expected to be minimal.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- An Associate’s degree plus at least two years of equivalent relevant work experience is required..
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Experience:
- 0-2 years of Tax or Accounting experience is preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies:
- Must possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Excel.
- Be able to work effectively under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and be detail oriented.
- Must maintain confidentiality.
