Position Summary
The DC Lead is a level 5 position which assists the operations leadership in the execution of the operational objectives of the automated $1B company’s 1.8 million square foot Distribution Center (DC).
Responsibilities include overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of their department, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of orders, maintaining inventory accuracy, and leading a team of other team members to achieve operational excellence in accordance with company policies and procedures.
This role demands a proactive leader who can drive performance, foster a collaborative work environment, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. It requires flexibility to assist multiple departments and a desire to learn while working in a fast-paced, diverse team environment that prioritizes collaboration, trust, teamwork, and continuous improvement to drive customer satisfaction.

Functional Responsibilities
  1. Direct Daily Operations
  • Oversees daily activities in a department which can include receiving, picking, packing, shipping, value added services (VAS), and big box shipments while ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures timely and accurate processing of orders to meet customer requirements and delivery schedules by monitoring workflow and adjust staffing levels to meet operational demands.
  • Researches and problem solves order issues or discrepancies providing timely solutions to meet order shipment deadlines.
  • Leads, coaches, and mentors their departments team to achieve performance goals by contributing to regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and operational updates.
  • Provides ongoing training and support to team members to enhance their skills and performance while promoting a safe working environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.
  • Tracks key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reports on operational performance and collaborates with management to develop and execute strategic plans to meet or exceed targets.
  • Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction by ensuring accurate and timely order fulfillment by addressing and resolving inventory issues and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Performs general housekeeping duties within the department or assigned areas to ensure a clean, organized, and safe working environment by following 6 S standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of the operational needs of the company.
 
  1. Communication and Collaboration: 
  • Communicate effectively with leaders and team members to ensure coordinated and efficient operations.
  • Work closely with department leaders and a team of PIT Operators, Material Handlers, Clerks, Inventory Control, and Customer Service
  • Participate in team meetings and provide input for process improvements.
  1. Continuous Improvement
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Implement best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline operations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to drive innovation within the distribution center.
  1. Continuing Education
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices related to ensuring effective operational support concerning automated distribution centers and supply chain operations.
 
                                                                          
Education/Qualifications
  • REQUIRED
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Capability to learn the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
    • Ability to perform physical activity at a sustained pace including walking, bending, sitting, driving, and lifting within an automated distribution center environment.
    • Ability to lead a team independently while thinking critically and executing with a sense of urgency. 
    • Capability to multitask while meeting production, safety, and accuracy standards.
    • Ability to work and adapt throughout the DC supporting and learning all departments tasks.
    • Capacity to maintain a positive attitude and remain self-motived to perform at a high level.
    • Strong attention to detail and love for accuracy in a rapidly growing company with a fast changing environment.
  • PREFERRED
    • Some college courses or associate degree.
Experience
  • REQUIRED
    • Minimum of 2 year successful experience working at a high level leading a team within a distribution center.
    • Demonstrated computer and technical savvy including the ability to learn new programs, systems, and quickly interpret metrics.
    • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed performance goals/metrics. 
    • Demonstrated strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills with ability to lead a team in a complex and fast paced workplace.
  • PREFERRED
  • Experience working in a fully automated distribution center as a Lead of a department.
  • Experience working within multiple departments within a distribution center including receiving, shipping, Pick & Pack, and VAS.
