United Martial Arts Center Mission Statement
To provide a safe, well-balanced After-school Program that emphasizes Martial Arts philosophy along with education, pride, self-esteem, fitness, and integrity.
Responsibilities:
- Provide care for children while stressing individual needs within the developmental framework of social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.
- Provide positive guidance and encouragement to each student while allowing them to act independently.
- Develop a positive relationship with each child and promote the development of self-esteem and self-discipline.
- Maintain a well-organized, safe, and attractive classroom environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children.
- Assist with proper student check in and dismissal procedures for After-school Program.
- Check student planners, and when necessary assist students with homework.
- Perform light cleaning duties in order to maintain the overall cleanliness of the classroom and the surrounding areas.
- Become knowledgeable of our school’s philosophy, mission statement, and policies.
Requirements:
- Must be nurturing, patient, and enjoy interacting with children on a daily basis.
- Must have the ability to identify behavioral problems and determine the right course of action; under the supervision of the Facility Manager.
- Must have the ability to politely and effectively resolve conflicts, while maintaining a courteous and professional demeanor when dealing with parents, children and other co-workers.
- Must have the ability to work independently, but be able to actively listen and follow instructions.
- Must have the desire to enthusiastically greet and politely engage parents at drop-off and pick-up times.
- Must possess excellent time management skills, and be able to prioritize assigned tasks.
Education/Experience Required: High School education, in addition to: one year related experience, training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
License Requirement: Must possess and maintain a valid Florida state driver’s license along with a reliable form of transportation.
Background Requirement: Have the ability to pass a thorough background screening. We are a drug-free employer.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to parents, students, customers and other employees of the company. Bilingual a plus.
Hours: Employees must be available to work Monday through Friday; from 2:20 pm to 6:20 pm.
