Job Summary
The Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) works under a Paramedic (lead medic) during all ambulance calls. They must possess the ability to work cohesively under a Paramedic’s authority, meet all physical requirements and complete United Medevac Solutions, Inc. (UMS)’s comprehensive training programs. The EMT-B must show a comprehensive understanding of their scope of practice in this position, which only extends to approved UMS Protocols.
Duties
- Provide direct or intermediate patient care while in a field EMS setting.
- Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner in adherence with UMS goals.
- Adhere to site-specific UMS Quality Assurance (QA) Plans and UMS Policies/Procedures.
- Support corporate philosophy and objectives.
- Conduct inventory of supplies and equipment at the beginning and end of their shift. Communicate end of shift findings to oncoming crew to ensure par levels.
- Promptly assist Paramedic (lead medic) as requested during EMS related activities.
- Monitor and take corrective action when QA flags are presented on their ePCR flag queue.
- Assess the patient's condition, identify injuries/illnesses, and gather relevant medical history and information from the patient or bystanders.
- Administer basic medical treatments and interventions, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), controlling bleeding, immobilizing fractures, providing oxygen therapy, and administering some medications under medical direction.
- Safely and efficiently transport patients to medical facilities, considering the patient's condition and the appropriate mode of transportation.
- Communicate effectively with the UMS team, other healthcare professionals, and hospital staff to relay important patient information and coordinate care.
- Accurately document patient information, medical treatments, and interventions for medical records and insurance purposes.
- Maintain a safe working environment and adhering to infection control protocols to protect patients and healthcare providers.
- Stay up to date with the latest medical protocols, procedures, and techniques through ongoing training and continuing education.
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Current EMT-B certification granted by the State of Georgia OR NREMT.
- 12 months of experience in an EMS environment required.
- Commitment to upholding high standards of ethical conduct and professionalism.

Pay: Up to $21.36 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 60 per week
