What are the responsibilities and job description for the WIC Specialist position at United Medical Centers?
Under the direction of the WIC Director is responsible for the eligibility and screening process of the WIC clients as per approved guidelines and protocols. Responsible for the overall data processing activities of the department to include, but not limited to, family certification data, food benefit distribution, various client’s appointments for services. Responsible for performing nutrition education and various clerical and reception functions. Responsible for performing data processing functions as needed or required. Responsible as a WIC Specialist for assisting the Director in performing outreach activities, coordinating staff training and promoting the WIC program to community entities. May be assigned charge responsibilities in the absence of the Director. Responsible for demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. Must be able to identify and categorize each patient’s age-specific group of needs such as those for 0-59 years old. Responsible for compliance with other requirements affecting the Medical Center, such as State/Federal regulations, TJC standards, HRSA, DSHS, and Compliance Performance Standards. Requirements:Education:
1. High school graduate or equivalent with college courses preferred
Experience/Training:
1. At least six months clerical experience required
2. Computer experience required
3. Ability to type 40 WPM
4. Knowledgeable in medical terminology preferred
5. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
