UMF is a specially qualified producer of hardware and structural components for GE gas turbine engines used for power generation around the world. Now under new ownership, UMF is poised to grow rapidly.

Pay Band: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

Location: On-site in Worcester, MA

Schedule: Day shift

Primary Duties:

• Read and interpret customer blueprints
• Read and interpret customer process manuals (i.e. weld, paint/coat, or machining general practice)
• Obtain and maintain database of pricing and estimates across materials and services used in production
• Support quoting and estimating by quickly pricing or estimating relevant input stock or third party work
• Forwards available inventory items by verifying stock; scheduling delivery
• Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price
• Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders
• Verifies receipt of items and conformance to ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers
• Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation
• Keeps material costs down by sourcing best available market price and consolidating demand when able
• Guides purchasing planning and control by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
• Adjust minimum and maximum stocking levels based on demands
• Maintain accurate costs on all purchased items

Successful candidate profile:

• Experience with ASTM and UNS mild, stainless, specialty steel types, grades, and finishes required
• Relevant manufacturing experience reading blueprints for metal fabrication or machining is required
• Relevant academic coursework for the manual or advanced manufacturing trades a plus
• Comfortable in the semi-manual production equipment
• PC / data entry skills required, familiarity with ERP and inventory planning systems is a plus

Qualifications required:

• Able to handle prolonged standing, kneeling, bending
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
• Excellent communication in written and verbal English
• High School Diploma required
