UMF is a specially qualified producer of hardware and structural components for GE gas turbine engines used for power generation around the world. Now under new ownership, UMF is poised to grow rapidly.

Open Role: Quality Control Lead

Experience Level: Experienced

Job Type: Full-time or Part-time, Permanent

Wage Type: Hourly

Pay Band: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour

Location: On-site in Worcester, MA

Schedule: Day shift

Primary Duties:

• Read and interpret customer blueprints
• Read and interpret customer process manuals (i.e. weld, paint/coat, or machining general practice)
• Track equipment and personnel qualifications
• Visually inspect finished product, especially micrometer-read tolerance checks
• Log and report all non-conformance and variance
• Inspect raw material for conformance to vendor order and job spec and WIP inventory
• Post-process inspection following send-outs
• Ensure metallurgic and chemical conformance to specifications
• Draft process conformance documentation in accordance with customer requirements
• Assist with quoting and estimation
• Comply with all safety directives and requirements

Successful candidate profile:

• Helpful and ready to learn
• Relevant manufacturing experience reading blueprints for metal fabrication or machining is required
• Relevant academic coursework for the manual or advanced manufacturing trades a plus
• Comfortable in the semi-manual production equipment
• Familiarity with digital production tools (e.g. ERP planning and logging) is a plus

Qualifications required:

• Able to handle prolonged standing, kneeling, bending
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
• Excellent communication in written and verbal English
• High School Diploma required
