What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver/Maintenance Assistant position at United Methodist Homes?
United Methodist Homes in Binghamton is looking for a reliable, safety conscious person to join our team driving our residents to appointments and assisting in our maintenance department. Individual must have a valid, clean driving record and basic maintenance skills.
SUMMARY: Drives minibus, van, or lightweight truck to transport residents, or company personnel by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drives vehicle from central loading area to activities, doctor’s appointments, or other destination according to assigned schedule.
- Follow all state and federal state motor vehicle rules and regulations.
- Assists passengers into and out of vehicle. Operates van lift for wheelchair passenger.
- Secures passengers’ wheelchair to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchair during trip.
- Use cell phone to communicate with supervisor and director. Cell phone or other electronic devices are not to be used while driving.
- Keeps records of trips and reports any concerns regarding residents to the appropriate person.
- Report any vehicle repairs that may need to be done and cleans interior/exterior before drives.
- Works in maintenance when there is no transportation needed.
- Perform various duties in Maintenance Department such as:
- Wander Guard testing, copper/silver testing, Oxygen tank maintenance (ordering, transporting), 5 gallon water replenishment, rotation, and cooler cleaning, bus stop trash pick-up, outdoor property cleanliness, complete work orders.
- Understand and follow all HIPAA guidelines.
Other duties as assigned
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
