Reports to: Special Assets Manager
Position Summary:
The Junior Special Assets will assist in administering and monitoring a portfolio of challenged credits and assisting in the turnaround or exit of complex credit relationships through proactive management and restructuring efforts. Works with lending personnel and commercial borrowers to better secure collateral and/or assets of the borrower. Works with small and mid-size loans of little to medium complexity.
The position will also track, follow-up and collect on all past due commercial loans. This includes calling and corresponding with all past due borrowers to determine the reason for the delinquencies and attempt to resolve the delinquencies in a timely manner.
Perform servicing functions with the borrowers, follow up on past due taxes, insurance, and other matters. Once a loan becomes delinquent, prepare default letters to borrowers, obtain updated valuations and title searches of collateral properties.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to use independent judgement on smaller and less complex loans in nature.
- Ability to learn quickly with on-the-job training and development; good interpersonal skills and focuses on the details of every transaction.
- Possess strong negotiation, motivation, problem-solving, conflict resolution skills, and due diligence skills (including the ability to analyze other companies, their financial information, and operations) or demonstrated aptitude to learn
- Moderate working knowledge of applicable laws as it applies to banking, business loans, bankruptcy, contracts, as well as company products, credit policy, lending procedures and underwriting guidelines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to effectively communicate with bank personnel of all levels
- High energy multi-tasker with excellent time management skills, the ability to work independently, establish priorities, delegate and meet deadlines
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
- Proficient in use of basic computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook
