Job Summary
The Freight Forwarding General Manager is responsible for inbound and outbound Freight Forwarding operations at gateways, service centers, and regional hub locations. They manage and consolidates inbound freight shipments from outlying facilities and pickup and delivery and prepares outbound shipments for travel to regional truck hubs and Air/UPSCO gateways. This position forecasts labor needs to meet peak data entry and operational needs. They forecast tonnage and revenue, analyzes costs, conducts strategic planning, and manages regulatory compliance and customer service to ensure profitability. This position interacts with UPS sales groups and Industrial Engineering to establish business volume growth and operational efficiencies. They ensure compliance with UPS policies and procedures and governmental regulations and manages operations profit and loss (P&L) and targets accounts to retain existing accounts and win new business. This position oversees other managers within the department.
Occasional travel will be required for this position. The manager will also be responsible for overseeing operations in Des Moines, IA and Cedar Rapids, IA.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in Freight Forwarding operations – Required
Previous experience managing or collaborating with Union employees – Preferred
Demonstrated ability to negotiate and experience managing OSP Cartage contracts – Preferred

Must be currently located in the same geographic location – Required.
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8 am to 5 pm

Pay Range:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89.700,00/year to $145.740,00/year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to, market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and education/training and a candidate’s work experience. Hired applicants are offered annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs, subject to applicable eligibility requirements. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
