All potential applicants are encouraged to scroll through and read the complete job description before applying.We’re hiring a Marketing leader to help us achieve our growth & strategic objectives by lowering our Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) across all our constituent groups (Employer, Member, Veterinarian) via enablement of our sales processes and improved standalone marketing motions (e.g., inbound lead management & qualification).This role reports directly to the CEO and is a member of our Leadership Team – we expect this person to push our collective thinking and expand our organizational capabilities in a role that touches nearly every department and is mission-critical to our success. Both our CEO and COO have marketing backgrounds and highly value the function (and hold it to a high standard of expectation). The role currently has one direct report (a Marketing Coordinator, joined in March 2024) and will own / manage relationships with external vendor & client partners.If you’re a pet-loving, detail-oriented people leader fired up to make an impact on a rapidly-growing, constantly-evolving company, this is almost certainly your dream gig! We’re looking for someone ready to dive right in- so, if you are in the greater Phoenix area or planning to make the move, let’s chat!Where you’ll focus : Lower our CAC by improving our presentation-to-conversion rates by improving our targeting & value prop and evaluating delivery (rep skills, proposals, sales decks) with a goal of 5-10% improvement in win ratesBuild out our lead management, qualification & scoring processWith CEO, further develop our large group direct to employer sales / marketing strategy & tacticsWith COO & Tech support, successfully implement & deploy a new Marketing Automation ToolEstablish yourself as the Voice of UPC and act as final approver on all outbound content to ensure high communication standards are upheldPerfect ‘fail fast’ approach by systematically measuring and evaluating campaign effectiveness marketing & event spend to redeploy budget & shape our strategyThings that are not near-term priorities for this Marketing Leader : Branding and brand marketingSocial mediaWebsite (outside of lead conversion)Paid marketing / SEOWhat you’ll need to be successful in this role : Extensive experience with demonstrated upward trajectory in Marketing and / or Sales Enablement rolesExceptional written / verbal communication skills, with experience tailoring and delivering communications to a wide variety of internal and external audiencesResourceful and nimble, with the ability to operate in sometimes ambiguous or undefined environmentsLogical, first-principles approach to problem-solving with a focus on business outcomes vs activitiesAnalytical orientation, disciplined use of metrics to measure & drive performanceAbility to take ownership of an issue and see it through resolutionAbility to think strategically with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and executeExperience launching a new product or service line a plusUnderstanding of the veterinary, pet and / or voluntary benefits markets a plusStrong interpersonal skills with ability to quickly establish rapport.
