Pharmacy Technician - Assistant Director of Order Entry
Location : Mt Prospect, IL
Schedule : Full-time; rotating shifts and weekends as needed
Overview :
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to help one of our clients as their Assistant Director of Order Entry to oversee and manage the daily operations of the Order Entry department. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies, optimizing workflow, and supporting staff development. The Assistant Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams and work closely with the Director of Order Entry to enhance department efficiency and performance.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Ensure department leadership, supervisors, and team members adhere to Order Entry procedures and policies
- Communicate critical updates regarding operational changes, scheduling, and company needs to the team
- Develop and manage schedules for the Medical Records / Order Entry Department
- Collaborate with other managers to ensure smooth interdepartmental workflow and dispatch efficiency
- Lead the hiring process, including reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and onboarding new employees
- Design, implement, and maintain a structured training program and checklist for new hires, ensuring proper training through Supervisors and Leads
- Develop and enforce department policies and procedures
- Provide employee counseling and disciplinary action when necessary
- Prepare and conduct monthly team meetings to communicate updates and address department concerns
- Oversee annual performance reviews for staff members and provide constructive feedback
- Manage biweekly payroll preparation and review
- Configure Framework and ECM to meet company needs, including setting up new facilities and ensuring all necessary information is entered accurately and in a timely manner
- Attend transition meetings for new facilities, handling facility setup, room maps, and medication records
Operational Duties (As Needed) :
Qualifications & Experience :
HS diploma or equivalent (required)
Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (required)
PTCB or ExCPT certification (required)
2–4 years of pharmacy technician experience
Long-term care (LTC) pharmacy experience preferred
Strong knowledge of federal and state pharmacy laws and guidelines
Ability to analyze, prioritize, and solve problems effectively
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in basic math, data entry, and analytical tasks
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Ability to handle customer inquiries professionally and maintain composure on the phone
Intermediate typing and keyboarding skills
Ability to operate standard office equipment without specialized training
