Pharmacy Technician - Compliance Manager
Location: Mt Prospect, IL
Schedule: Full-time; rotating shifts and weekends as needed
Overview:
We are assisting our client, a long-term care pharmacy, in their search for a Pharmacy Technician – Compliance Manager to support and oversee their pharmacy compliance program. This role ensures adherence to federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining a strong compliance culture within the organization. The Compliance Manager will work closely with the Compliance Director, staff, and external partners to implement policies, conduct audits, and address compliance concerns. This position requires a deep understanding of DSCSA, DEA, EPA, HIPAA, and state Board of Pharmacy regulations to ensure best practices in long-term care pharmacy operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist the Compliance Director in developing, implementing, and maintaining the pharmacy’s compliance program, policies, and procedures
- Conduct routine compliance audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions
- Monitor and track regulatory changes impacting long-term care pharmacy operations and assist in updating policies accordingly
- Support the preparation and delivery of compliance training programs to pharmacy staff to ensure understanding of regulations and company policies
- Coordinate with pharmacy staff and management to resolve compliance concerns, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement
- Maintain records of compliance activities, including training logs, audit findings, investigations, and corrective actions
- Prepare reports on compliance activities and findings for the Compliance Director and senior management
- Serve as a resource to staff regarding compliance-related questions and issues
- Support the Compliance Director in responding to regulatory inquiries, inspections, and audits while ensuring timely and accurate reporting to agencies
- Assist in managing the pharmacy’s medication destruction program in compliance with EPA and DSCSA regulations
Qualifications & Experience:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Active Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (required)
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (required)
Experience:
- Familiarity with pharmacy regulations, including DSCSA, DEA, EPA, HIPAA, and state-specific long-term care pharmacy requirements
- Five years of pharmacy experience
- Long-term care (LTC) pharmacy experience preferred
- Experience conducting audits, investigations, and implementing corrective actions
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Effective leadership and project management skills
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and compliance-related software tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with pharmacy staff and regulatory agencies
Compensation: depends on experience, skill set and availability.
