Project Manager

Position Overview: The Project Manager is responsible for the overall management of the project. This includes accepting bid packages, performing detailed estimates, assisting in the creation of bid proposals, project scheduling and planning, project progress review, expediting equipment, site inspection, project safety and quality assurance. Responsibilities include tracking, forecasting, and communicating costs, profits, and financial measures of the project. Organization and accountability for all elements involved in construction: safety, labor, materials, tools, equipment, consumables, construction schedule, and change orders.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensures field leaders have up-to-date specifications, ITPs, construction drawings, project information, schedules, budget, and general forms.
• Ensures field forms are correctly filed on the server for records and turnover.
• Reviews and understands project documents (Scope, Contract, Drawings, Specs, etc.).
• Conducts pre-project planning meetings.
• Completes submittals and tracks approvals.
• Identifies, negotiates, and manages subcontracts, vendor quotes, invoices, and change orders.
• Maintains project schedule and budget, communicates changes.
• Manages project documentation according to UPI and Client standards.
• Participates in project lessons learned.
• Coordinates with billing and accounts payable departments for timely invoice submission and payment.
• Responsible for managing change orders.
• Provides monthly cost-to-complete reports, manhour budgets, and progress updates to UPI Management.
• Fosters positive client relationships.
• Promotes our safety program through activities like toolbox talks, Safety Opportunity Program, safety moments, inspections, and incident reporting.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Oversees and directs project teams, including field or project engineers assigned to projects.

Work Environment:

• 80% office, 20% field.
• Field environment may expose individuals to loud noise, dirt, dust, weather, heat, and cold.

Physical Demands:

• Works on computers for extended periods.
• Sitting, standing, and moving around an office environment.
• Lifting up to 20 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

• This role offers flexibility to work remotely and in the office with supervisor's discretion.

Travel Requirements:

• This role requires occasional travel, including air travel.

Required or Preferred Education and Experience:

• Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred.
• 5 years industry experience preferred.
• Effective interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to function well under stress, handle interruptions accurately, and maintain attention to detail.
• Self-motivation and effective prioritization.
• Moderate to advanced computer skills; P6 and Bid2Win experience preferred.
• Comfortable leading teams.

Compensation Information: This role will be based out of either the Yorkville, IL, or Duluth, MN office. Pay range is $103,500 - $155,800 based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Eligible for annual bonus, profit sharing, and additional benefits supporting total well-being.
