PRODUCTION MANAGER
Job Title: Production Manager | Department: Manufacturing | Reports to: General Manager | FLSA Status: Exempt

JOB SUMMARY:
The Production Manager will oversee the production process and coordinate all activities to meet production targets. This role will represent the manufacturing department within Senior Staff. The ideal candidate will lead productivity and cost-reduction efforts with a philosophy of continuous improvement and firsthand involvement. Your primary goals are product quality, cost, and on-time delivery. You will exemplify leadership by fostering a culture that prioritizes quality, safety, and lean manufacturing principles. You will monitor production operations and contribute to our profitability by reducing total costs and enhancing processes that will contribute to overall improvement. The Production Manager will provide operational excellence and ensure resources are available to maintain exceptional on-time delivery and minimize past-due backlog. Ten years of related experience and training in the aerospace or defense industry is preferred.
Qualifications
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate closely with support functions, including Quality, HR, Finance, Sales, and Engineering/R&D.
- Develop and manage UPC’s annual Capital budget plan for manufacturing.
- manage all Operations functions, including Fabrication, Machining, Assembly, Facilities/Maintenance, Preventative Maintenance, and EH&S.
- Ensure that department procedures and employee behaviors comply with company policy.
- Ensure operation in accordance with all contractual requirements, emphasizing compliance with FAR/DFAR and flow-down requirements.
- Utilize performance metrics to drive improvements.
- Establish and track Manufacturing goals within the context of the UPC strategy and ensure their attainment to support top-level objectives.
- Execute production plans to ensure UPC achieves sales and EBITDA goals.
- Lead the Manufacturing department in day-to-day activities while managing long-term strategic plans.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet on-time delivery targets.
- Manage headcount resources, including hiring, termination, performance reviews, and employee development.
- Provide advice and counsel on operational issues to the General Manager and Senior Staff.
- Provide leadership, direction, mentoring, development plans, and training oversight to all department employees.
- Provide Process Data for RFQ’s, RFP’s, and purchase orders.
- Review expenditure requests for accuracy, relevance, and ROI.

REQUIRED
- A four-year technical or bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent career experience. At least five years in charge of production operations as well as at least five years of supervisory experience.
- 10 years of supervisory/management experience in aerospace or defense, tight tolerance machining industry, or equivalent training/experience
- Manufacturing software, Excel Spreadsheet software, and Word (Microsoft Office) Word Processing software.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of MRP/ERP System (SAP preferred) and have extensive involvement in the production planning process.
PREFERRED
- Lean Manufacturing Principles Certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or FAC P/PM Certification
- Experience with high-precision manufacturing equipment
- Experience with ITAR Compliance
- Experience with AS9100

- Must be able to move about inside a warehouse and office to access files, office/warehouse machinery, employees, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is generally performed in an office/warehouse environment with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. No special coordination beyond those used for normal mobility, handling of everyday objects and materials, and use of office equipment is necessary to perform the job satisfactorily.

Salary : $130,000 - $150,000
