In a long-term care setting Certified Nursing Aides assist nursing personnel in providing non-professional nursing care and simple technical nursing services under the direction and supervision of a professional nurse following established policies and procedures.
In a Weekend Package role, UP Home offers base pay Weekend Premium of 35% of base pay. The position requires 36 hours per week worked in three 12-hour shifts Friday, Saturday and Sunday (6a-6p, 10a-10p, or 6p-6a). Hired candidates will have the option of 1 weekend off per 6-month period and is otherwise expected to be available consistently.
Position Duties:
- Gives general care to residents including assistance with or performance of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) for resident as needed.
- Lifts, walks and positions resident to make them more comfortable as needed; assists or feeds resident; assists resident to bathroom
- Help residents maintain dignity by keeping them presentable and clean.
- Observes residents and notes physical condition, attitude, reactions, appetite, etc., and reports unusual findings to charge nurse.
- Assists with and/or performs procedures with proper instruction and supervision, such as: taking and recording vital signs; measuring and recording meals; collecting specimens; applies hot and cold packs; sees that safety devices and precautions and being used.
- Assists with restorative and rehabilitative care of residents and instructions in self help.
- Treats resident information as confidential material.
- Charts all required information in Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Orients and teaches new personnel routine operations and duties.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school graduate.
- Completion of State Certified Nurses Aide course and passing Iowa approved competency exam.
- Previous experience in hospital or nursing home desirable.
- Sense of responsibility.
- Common sense.
- Sincere desire to work with the aged.
- Well groomed, courteous, tactful, patient, kind and pleasant when dealing with residents and staff.
- Ability to cooperate with other personnel.
- Ability to anticipate needs and moods of geriatric residents helpful.
