Are you seeking a nursing role in which you will challenge your nursing skills and utilize critical thinking and versatility all while creating lasting relationships with your patients? In a long-term care setting, this RN position is responsible for the implementation of the nursing process for the total nursing care of residents in our Health Center and for the supervision of all nursing personnel assigned to assist them in providing nursing care. The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of our residents. This position requires theoretical and practical knowledge and competency in interpersonal relationships, communicating skills and supervisory skills.
In a Weekend Package role, UP Home offers base pay Weekend Premium of 35% of base pay. This PT position requires 24 hours per week worked in two12-hour shifts Saturday and Sunday, 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. Hired candidates will have the option of 1 weekend off per 6-month period and is otherwise expected to be available consistently.
Position Duties:
- Interpret and efficiently execute the medical care plan as it relates to nursing, providing skillful, thorough, organized and safe nursing care.
- Abide by UP Home policies and procedures and interpret them to personnel, residents, staff and public.
- Communicate information regarding the residents status to families, physicians and other health care members.
- Assume responsibility and accountability for individual nursing judgments and actions.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment.
- Participate in the profession's efforts to establish and maintain conditions of employment conducive to high quality nursing care.
- Maintain significant and complete records of nursing observations and care.
- Evaluate resident care given by him/herself and other team members in relation to the recognized and interpreted needs of each resident.
- Keep other personnel informed of any significant changes in resident condition or of any unusual resident care problems.
- Continues professional growth through attendance of inservice meetings, continuing education courses and professional meetings.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
- Current license in State of Iowa.
- Previous experience with geriatric patients desirable.
- Have a thorough knowledge of medical, social and psychological needs of residents in this type of community.
- Must be willing to perform non-professional duties.
- Must be able to supervise and instruct others.
- Must be well-groomed, courteous, tactful, patient, kind and pleasant when dealing with residents and staff.
- Have an acute sense of responsibility.
- Possess a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm in order to create an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation and growth.
