Department Team Lead

Position Overview

Assists in directing the activities of the associates in all aspects of the assigned department. Provides training associates oncompany policies, procedures and work processes in the day-to-day responsibilities of assigned department. Responsible for daily completion of tasks in department assigned.

Key Accountabilities

· Experience in Material Flow in a warehouse environment to include, but not limited to, inspecting, handling of material, accurate selecting of material, accurate replenishment, and staging of materials for shipment.

· Experience in warehouse practices including but not limited to receiving, slotting, labeling, put away, and order picking.

· Promote and encourage compliance to Company Health, Safety, and Environment Policies and Procedures

· Plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates, and monitors associates in assigned department; ensures their ability to safely operate equipment; advises management on administering progressive disciplinary actions as necessary

· Ensure availability of resources to accomplish department tasks and goals

· Coordinates with Company Management on all quality issues to identify potential issues with inventory variances during the receiving process, replenishment process, or order fulfillment process

· Oversee the daily responsibilities of the assigned department, in the absence of Supervisor

· Ensure the timely and accurate entry of all transactional data for material and all material movement within staged locations.

· Effectively correspond with all levels of management and between interactive departments within the United Refrigeration organization

· Maintain a good working relationship with all members of United Refrigeration Inc

· Suggest and advise in the development of work procedures and perform training on procedures for job duties and responsibilities of associates within department

· Utilize reporting tools to provide analytics to management regarding the performance of the department

· Make recommendations for continuous improvement, ensure implementation and follow through on corrective action measures within department

· Suggest and advise in continuous evaluation of department operations and layout to ensure the most efficient work flow, storage capacity, equipment and workforce utilization possible

· Maintain effective housekeeping in department areas as required for a clean, efficient, organized operation.

· Maybe required to oversee other departments and associates for vacation and time off coverage or during periods when Supervisor is unavailable.

· Train and Operate Powered Industrial Equipment (i.e. Sit Down Forklifts, Order Pickers, Reach Trucks, Pack Mules, Scissor Lifts, etc.)

Key Experience

· Working knowledge of warehouse systems, processes, and procedures

· Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate with associates/management

· Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the supply chain and/or warehouse distribution field

· Has experience operating and /or supervising warehouse powered industrial forklift equipment operators

· Ability to perform simple math calculations

· Ability to read, understand, and follow directions/instructions/work procedures/safety rules

· Ability to operate various office equipment as needed

· At times may be requested to perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

· High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read and write in English, and perform basic mathematics

· Must be able to regularly lift and carry up to 75 pounds unassisted. Must be able to walk while carrying tools, parts, materials, bins, etc.

· Must be comfortable wearing all leather work shoes or equivalent, safety eyewear, and occasional process or equipment specific personal protective equipment as required.

· Must be able to use basic distribution tools and equipment:

o Examples (not a complete listing): manual tools, manual pallet jacks, electronic tape machines, RF guns, office printers, copiers, label printers

· Must be able to work independently, under minimum supervision and meet daily performance requirements

· Must demonstrate a commitment to attendance and punctuality

· Must follow established safety practices and correct unsafe work practices on the job by informing the supervision of potential risks

· Must have basic understanding of computer software such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and IBM Notes
