Summary of Essential Functions

  • Responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance, major repairs, coaching and directing team efforts, and blueprint reading.
  • Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to schedule jobs with little or no supervision.

Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate level degree in maintenance or electrical technology preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must be licensed with the State of Texas as a Master Electrician or a Master Plumber
  • The Master Plumber must posses Medical gas and back-flow certification
  • Must have current class “C” driver’s license (State of Texas) and be capable of driving a manual transmission vehicle.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Must have excellent work ethic, strong customer service skills and willingness to serve, works well in a team environment and be self-motivated.
  • Must have background in all aspects of commercial plumbing and pipefitting.
  • Takes pride in quality and quantity of work accomplished
  • Must have extensive knowledge of blueprints and diagrams.
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge in, but not limited to: HVAC, basic construction, basic electrical, door hardware / keying, basic plumbing, controls and instrumentation, boiler maintenance, automated valve systems, chiller maintenance, air compressor maintenance, building automation system and pump/motor maintenance.
  • Mentors co-workers, positive role model
  • Able to assume specialist responsibilities when needed.
  • Must be willing to alter schedule when needed.
  • Must remain insurable under liability insurance policy, i.e. over age 21 and no moving violations.
  • Possess the manual dexterity to safely operate a motor vehicle.

Physical Requirements

  • Be able to push, pull or lift at least 50 pounds
  • Be able to bend, kneel, stoop or stretch frequently
  • Must be able to work effectively in confined or elevated work spaces
  • Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity with substantial movement of wrist and/or fingers.
  • Walking and climbing to accomplish tasks.
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal or near normal range.
  • Extended periods of sitting and/or walking depending on specific duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Willing to assist others when asked and on a voluntary basis.
  • Mentor all Building Maintenance and Plant Operations personnel for required tasks on all shifts.
  • In the absence of direct supervision, possess the ability and knowledge to make decisions, is productive and sets a good example reflective on the department. Assumes duties of Specialist when needed.
  • Ensures that work is of the highest quality with attention to detail. Assignments are completed first time.
  • Corrective work orders are completed in a timely manner. 95% of preventive work orders completed during assigned period.
  • Maintains adequate levels of supplies and parts. Appropriately order necessary stock for proper functioning of Maintenance Shop and Plant Operations.
  • Monitor and document in-coming water quality; chemically adjust as necessary.
  • Respond to building climate changes – maintain the highest air quality possible.
  • Monitor Energy Management Program. Make control adjustments as required.
  • Has a complete understanding and complies with all United Regional Infection Control, Safety, and Departmental policies.
  • Performs all other tasks/responsibilities as necessary.
