SUMMARY
The position of Universal Banker is responsible for performing duties and support related to bank operational activities and the sale of financial services. Key duties include managing teller transactions, conducting client interviews to assess their needs, handling all aspects of opening deposit accounts, processing and finalizing consumer loan applications. The role also involves cross-selling the bank's products and services, as well as maintaining and closing various account types. In addition, this position will perform bank clerical duties, promote the Bank by developing and maintaining good customer relations, and refer customers to appropriate staff for other services. A Universal Banker is expected to provide support to bank personnel and to be in compliance with all Bank policies and procedures as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Provides support to all assigned areas of branch operations where service or assistance is needed, including new accounts, teller, safe deposit, vault teller and consumer lending.
2. Receives retail and commercial checking and savings deposits by determining that all necessary deposit documents are in proper form, and issuing receipts.
3. Cashes checks, conducts savings and checking withdrawals; confirms all necessary documents are properly authorized, are in proper form and are within authorized limits; makes decisions when questionable items are presented for cashing.
4. Balances cash drawer daily and verifies cash being returned to the vault.
5. Assists consumer and business customers in their selection of various accounts, products and financial services available from the Bank; ensures cross-sell opportunities are presented by applying professional sales techniques.
6. Interviews customers to obtain information; establishes proper identification of new customers; determines need and extent of reference investigation; assists customers in completing credit applications.
7. Discusses, prepares and processes documents related to the bank’s banking services.
8. Makes decisions regarding the opening of new accounts; assigns account numbers; completes forms requiring customer signature(s); checks credit history; accepts initial deposits; prepares all documents and items pertaining to checking accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposit and consumer and equity loans for processing.
9. Operates computer terminal or personal computer to process account activity; determine balances and resolve problems within given authority.
10. Represent the Bank in various community, civic, and community reinvestment functions to further enhance the Bank’s image and develop additional business.
11. Effectively cross sell bank products and services to achieve bank and individual objectives resulting in deposit and loan growth, increasing household relationships, fee income and bank profitability.
12. Conducts sales calls to potential and existing clients to increase household relationships.
13. Refer new or existing customers to other departments within the bank.
14. Participate in bank marketing activities as required.
15. Participate in sales meeting with bank associates for the purpose of discussing sales activity, products and sales opportunities.
16. Provides effective customer service by answering customer questions; investigates and corrects errors; and resolves problems and responds timely to clients.
17. Processes credit reports, wire transfers, credit card orders, address changes, check and deposit slip orders, and endorsement stamp orders.
18. Records, files, and updates client information.
19. Gathers and compiles research data and provides results of findings to management in a variety of formats.
20. Backup for telephone calls and directs callers to proper Bank personnel.
21. Cross-trains less experienced branch personnel.
22. Performs official notary service duties.
23. Provides backup support to the Operations Officer with the following responsibilities:
a. Processes debit card applications, card ordering and file maintenance.
b. Receives and processes stop payment and hold orders.
c. Receive and processes all EFT Disputes. Communicating increased dispute levels when applicable.
