USS is looking for a part-time Lifeguard to join our team at our downtown Springfield campus (125 W. Main Street). You’ll be overseeing our lap pool and warm water pool, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for our members. In this role, you’ll be the eyes and heart of our aquatics area—monitoring swimmers, enforcing safety rules, and keeping the pool and deck in top shape.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as lifeguard for lap pool and/or warm water therapy pool as assigned
- Actively monitor the safety of older adults during open swim and/or instructor-led aquatics classes
- Follow the Emergency Action Plan and notify proper channels in an emergency, if needed
- Maintain records of member use of pools and class attendance
- Test pool water for proper chemical balances
- Report any maintenance issues to the Associate Director of Programs
- Maintain a clean and safe pool deck including occasional mopping, emptying of trash, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current Lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid certifications (certification and recertification available on the job!)
Work hours are Monday through Friday, 12-15 hours per week.
