The United Soccer League (USL) is the heartbeat of American soccer. Impacting more than 200 communities across the United States, the USL is the first and only soccer organization in the United States to build a youth-to-professional pathway for both men and women within one ecosystem. That structure includes three professional leagues: USL Super League (women), USL Championship (men), and USL League One (men); two pre-professional leagues: USL League Two (men) and the USL W League (women); and two youth platforms: USL Academy and USL Youth.

Position Purpose
The Content & Social Media Manager will play a critical role in telling the story of USL Academy & USL Youth across digital and social platforms. The role will be responsible for producing dynamic digital content across all communication platforms, deepening engagement with our members and developing/reaching new participants.
This role works closely with the USL Academy, USL Youth and Marketing & Communications departments, to set and execute strategic objectives on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. This includes managing USL Academy and USL Youth social media platforms and websites, overseeing content publication, including partnership marketing materials, and supporting broader communications initiatives across the USL.
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Develop engaging and informative content for digital and social media platforms.
- Write, edit, and publish web content for USL Academy and USL Youth properties.
- Create compelling stories that reflect the organization’s voice and accurately represent both the platforms and brand.
- Collaborate with the creative team to create graphics and videos.
- Maintain a monthly social media calendar.
- Act as the main brand voice for USL Academy and USL Youth.
- Ensure all content adheres to brand guidelines, maintaining a consistent visual identity across platforms.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on metrics to improve content strategy and improve engagement and reach.
- Stay informed about social media trends, tools, and best practices and how to optimize them.
- Attend USL Academy & USL Youth events to capture photo and video content for digital and social media channels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop social content plans for League partnership campaigns and partners.
- Assist with content and social functions across other USL properties as needed.
- Support social team during weekend game rotation for other USL properties.
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2 – 4 years’ experience producing and managing social media content or another related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications or related field or equivalent professional work experience and/or combination of both work experience and education.
- Functional knowledge of soccer is strongly preferred.
- In tune with digital culture and trends.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and team-first mentality.
- Extremely organized, self-motivated and detail oriented.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with emphasis on writing and editing.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members, executives, member clubs, and external partners.
- Ability to work independently in a multi-faceted, fast, fluid, and deadline-driven environment.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic a must.
- Ability to work as business needs require which may include long days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel if / when necessary.
- Must have U.S. work authorization.
Work Environment
Based in Tampa, FL, USL Headquarters provides a vibrant and open working environment designed to promote collaboration, the exchange of ideas, and knowledge sharing. We believe in fostering a culture that encourages creativity, communication, and teamwork.
Currently, USL HQ operates on a hybrid work model. From Monday to Thursday, team members gather in person to harness the power of face-to-face collaboration. This not only strengthens the bonds within the team but also enhances communication and innovation. On Fridays, we transition to a remote work setup, providing our team with the flexibility to manage their tasks in an environment of their choosing.
Typical USL HQ hours are Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:30pm ET. Evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel may be necessary based on business demands.
