What are the responsibilities and job description for the Soil Pulling Technician position at United Soils Inc?
Hiring seasonal technicians for northern IL. Part-time and full-time hours available. This position will focus on pulling soil samples to use as the basis for recommendations for farmers and agricultural industry individuals during the testing season. Additional part-time sales opportunities available during off season.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate an ATV in the field while using GPS and GIS software to pull soil samples within specific locations and use a soil probe to collect soil cores at each site.
- Navigate using maps to specified fields.
- Document field conditions, soil anomalies, and boundary/field issues observed when testing the field
- Proper collection and handling of soil samples.
- Responsible for transferring files from field equipment back to the mapping department each day.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
Qualifications
- Must have a clean driving record and a valid driver's license.
- Ability to safely operate an ATV over a wide range of terrains.
- Ability to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.
- Detail oriented with the ability to work independently and stay self-motivated.
- Ag background or degree in field of agriculture preferred but not required.
- Seasonal hours: Must be willing to work long hours when needed (Time and a half paid for overtime)
- This job will require riding ATVs across rough terrain, the ability to push the probe in the ground and pull back out to depths ranging from 6 inches to 2 feet, and the ability to lift boxes around 75 lbs.
Bonus available on acres pulled correctly.

Pay: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour
