United Staff Group is hiring a Special Education Paraprofessional who can start now. The paraprofessional shall be working with a student who requires a behavioural aide who can also provide academic support.
Responsibilities:
- Support Individual/Small Group Instruction: Work with individual student or small groups as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Facilitate Large Group Activities: Assist in managing and instructing large groups of students under the teacher's guidance.
- Implement Instructional Activities: Carry out instructional tasks and activities as planned by the teacher.
- Motivate Students: Help the teacher in encouraging and motivating students to engage in learning activities.
- Address Individual Student Needs: Pay close attention to the specific needs of each student, providing tailored support.
- Provide Progress Feedback: Regularly inform teachers about student progress and any areas that may need attention.
- Assist with Work Evaluation: Help check and assess student work, ensuring timely feedback and grading.
- Classroom Management Support: Aid in maintaining a structured and disciplined classroom environment.
- Plan Instructional Activities: Collaborate with the classroom teacher in planning and organizing instructional activities to enhance learning.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree Preferred: A bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
- Associates Degree or Higher: Candidates should have an associate's degree or higher.
- Completion of at least two years or 48 credit hours of study at an accredited institution of higher education, OR
- Successful completion of a formal assessment measuring the knowledge and ability to assist classroom teachers in reading, writing, and mathematics (e.g., completion of the Parapro assessment or other requirements necessary to be deemed highly qualified).
