What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard position at United States Air Force?
This position will be assigned to the Buckner Fitness Center Pool or Elmendorf Fitness Center Pool on JBER, AK .
Flexible employees have work schedules that depend on the needs of the activity.
You may work a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
Flexible employees may be subjected to "on call" work in addition to hours posted on the schedule.
Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions. When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures that diving boards, swimming equipment, and deck area are inspected frequently for cracks, loose matting, debris or hazards and that necessary repairs and notification(s) are made. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include cleaning of bath houses, main pools, pool decks, etc.
Conditions of Employment
- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- Must have an approved and current certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR training. Individual must have or receive this certification prior to or within the first 30 days of job.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- Must satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI), State Criminal History Repository Check (SCHRC), and Installation Records Check (IRC).
- U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.

Pay: $16.50 - $19.50 per hour
